Giving Nature a Home:
How our yards are among the last best places for birds, bees, butterflies, and other wildlife
How our yards are among the last best places for birds, bees, butterflies, and other wildlife
Liz Stanley
Liz Stanley, avid birder, Master Naturalist, and Wild Ones and Richardson Nature Center volunteer, will take us on a photo journey of the amazing transformation of her typical suburban Bloomington backyard into a bustling naturescape that welcomes wildlife. Learn how she created a wonderful space that delights humans while providing “safe places” and habitat for birds, bees, butterflies, and other wildlife.
2020 WOTC NATIVE PLANT SALE
We are pleased to announce that we will be having our annual Native Plant Sale! Given the current state of emergency we needed to make some major adjustments in how we receive and process orders. We're pleased that we found a way to offer a selection of plant collections and individual potted plants at reasonable prices. A portion of each sale is a donation to our chapter, supporting our free education programs.
ALL ORDERS will be online BEGINNING TUESDAY, APRIL 28th:
1) please check out the 2020 plant sale page and use the PLANT ORDER WORKSHEET to plan your order,
2) and then go to our Eventbrite page to place your order.
To ensure the safety of our volunteers, all orders must be completed on Eventbrite, although you can pay by CREDIT CARD or CHECK. Evenbrite charges a small processing fee, but there is no sales tax on your order, an exemption offered non-profits by the State of Minnesota..
MOST IMPORTANT CHANGE:
Do to COVID-19 pick up will no longer be in South Minneapolis. Those of you who are able will be asked to pick up your order at Prairie Restorations retail outlet in Princeton, MN. Rather than everyone picking up the same day, Prairie Restorations is filling the orders during retail store hours beginning on Saturday, May 30 through Sunday, June 14. Your pick-up ticket will double as a one-time coupon for 10% discount on additional plant purchases and 25% discount on other merchandise at time of pick-up, a great incentive.
Please see the 2020 plant sale page for more details on the plants, collections and ordering information, including a PLANT ORDER WORKSHEET to help you plan your garden!
If you have any questions about the plant sale, please contact us.
If you would like to volunteer to help at Prairie Restorations during the weekend pick-up times, please sign up here.
Thank you,

INTRODUCING
Hello, Wild Ones, friends and members!
Wild Ones Twin Cities is thrilled to be launching our new e-zine, Wild Ones Reflections, on Earth Day. We hope you enjoy this issue and that you look forward to receiving more issues a few times each year. Feel free to forward to those who care about our Earth, not just on Earth Day, but every day. Anyone can sign up to receive this e-zine at info@WildOnesTwinCities.org.
In Wild Ones Reflections, we tell the stories of people who are making change in their own yards, as well as their communities. We offer useful resources, creative ideas, and thoughtful answers to frequently asked nativescaping questions. We hope to connect with those of you we don't get to see often--either because of busy schedules or distance. To those of you we have the opportunity of crossing paths with more frequently--at our monthly educational meetings, volunteering, gardening at the Nokomis Naturescape, touring member gardens, or at our annual Design with Nature conference--we look forward to strengthening our bonds.
At Wild Ones our focus is to educate the public about the benefits of preserving and restoring biodiversity of our native plant communities, beginning in our own yards and gardens. We do this out of respect and hope for our shared planet.
On this Earth Day 2020, we express thanks to all of you and all you do to strengthen the biodiversity of this one beautiful planet we all share. Collectively, we can make an impact.
All the Best!

Thanks to all our Wild Ones Twin Cities Volunteers!
Due to the coronavirus, we are temporarily suspending most in-person activities and working to reschedule or digitally offer program presentations.
It is our hope that we will be able to resume our meetings at Wood Lake Nature Center in September, but please check back for updates.
We are, however, very happy to be able to offer our Native Plant Sale this year! We are hoping to have a few WOTC outreach volunteers present during the busiest times at the pick-up site (Prairie Restorations' retail space in Princeton), but will take every precaution to ensure the safety of our volunteers, customers, and PRI staff through social distancing and non-contact information exchange.
If you are willing and able to help, please review the available times on our SignUpGenius page and click on the button to sign up. Thank you!
