Have you or are you planning to use native plants in your garden and need help on plant selection and maintenance? Attend our popular Natural Landscaping Table Topics meeting featuring a variety of native plant topics and leaders. Participate in Question & Answer discussion sessions on your choice of topics and visit with members to learn more about Wild Ones and Monarch Joint Venture.

Table hosts, including Paul Erdmann, Heather Holm, Erik Olsen, Douglas Owens-Pike, Carmen Simonet and Roxanne Stuhr, are all professionals or have many years of experience. More info below plant



Natural Landscape Topics and Table Hosts:


Woodland and Shoreline Gardens
Paul Erdmann, Caretaker and Conservation Chair, Bush Lake Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America
Discussion will focus on establishing a woodland garden or woodland edge garden, however, Paul also has extensive experience in lakeshore restoration.
 
Attracting Pollinators to Your Garden
Heather Holm, Author of Pollinators of Native Plants
Discussion will be on landscaping with native plants that attract pollinators, including native bees, butterflies and moths.
 
Landscaping with Native Trees & Shrubs
Erik Olsen, Landscape Designer, Out Back Nursery & Landscaping
Focuses on selecting native trees and shrubs of Minnesota that are versatile and suitable for natural landscaping in urban or suburban settings.

Caring For Wild and Natural Gardens
Carmen Simonet, Landscape Architect, Carmen Simonet Design, LLC
Topics will include design decisions and their impact on maintenance, establishing a new planting, long term management, and management strategies to support pollinators and birds. 

Boulevards: Creating Thriving Eco-Gardens in Challenging Spaces
Roxanne Stuhr, Owner, True NatureDesign
Native plants can make great boulevard gardens and add curb appeal too. This session will focus on plant selection that follows municipal guidelines while adding beauty to your yard.  You will get a brief introduction into where to begin, and then we will talk about how to get there.
Where To Begin: Converting Lawns to Native Plant Landscapes
Douglas Owens-Pike, President, EnergyScapes
Have you been thinking about reducing your lawn and providing more habitat?  Come to the Wild Ones table talk on this subject and learn from an expert who has been designing, installing and maintaining native gardens for over 25 years. Douglas is the author of Beautifully Sustainable:Freeing Yourself to Enjoy Your Landscape which will be available for purchase from Wild Ones that evening.
